Best/Worst 27 Of Last Year: Tunes!

Why a random number like 27? Good question.

Here's my opinion on the best CDs and music released last year. I'll gurantee it already that you'll disagree with me. But, hey, who agrees with critics these days, eh?

Look for Best/Worst of: Comics and Film coming soon.

Instead of long paragraphs of why I liked them, heres some one sentence reviews. Also, all the downloads listed under each CD are only posted since they're legal.

Worst Album Of The Year: U2, "How To Dismantle A Bomb"
Crap! Talk about overrated out the ass! Album of the year, too? Yikesamundo. Someone needs to get these gloating sunglasses/knitted cap enthusists out of the spotlight. Every single song sounds exactly similar in a Nikelback-esque way. Just stick to the donating.

Worst Song Of The Year: Some Hillbilly, "Honkytonk Badonkadonk"
Do I even have to explain? What's next? "Redneck Skeet Skeet"?

Worst Video Of The Year: Fall Out Boy, "Sugar We're Going Down"
How a group of unintelligible emo kids can find something depressing about a kid with deer antlers is beyond me. Yes, we get your sad about your antler teen friend over there, now go cry somewhere else other than my TV every other five minutes.

Biggest Sellout Of The Year: Green Day, "American Idiot"
What happen to the old Green Day that played ol' fashioned punk rock and didn't give a crap about MTV and mascarra? Those were the good old days. And now I see them walking away with a Grammy? I can't wait till the Grammys become officially un-"Jethro Tull'D."
But hey, theres always Weezer's new album to look forward t-.......Shit.

Biggest Dissapointment Of The Year (Technically): The Strokes, "First Impressions Of Earth"
What happened? I thought these guys we're suppose to "save" rock and roll? I think Julian Casablancas should just stick to the heroin, since it seemed to be working for him last record.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Just missing the new EP from Oliver Future in the top EPs. Then it'd be perfect.

You live in Austin so I'm going to go out on a lime and say you've seen them live, how amazing was that?

Gah, I must be getting old, I don't recognize like 90 per cent of this stuff! But then again I've never been big into music . . . I like stuff like the Wu Tang Clan and the Smiths, anything like that on your list?

Yep, saw Oliver Future play at ACL and SXSW. Good shows. They didn't play "In The Shadows" at ACL for some reason, so I was a little disapointed.

Plus, this all has to be new music since its the best tunes of last year. Most music I listen to is pretty old, or pretty unknown. Most of the artists listed aren't even signed to labels are haven't sold a lot of records.

A great list Gambit

I've listened to DJ Dangermouse and really loved it and I wasn't sure whether to give DangerDoom a try, but I will now

If you liked Gorillaz Demon Days you should really try and get their G Sides album. A lot of great tracks on there

Well, considering this is Gambit's opinion, Death Cab for Cutie is perfectly fine in the top 10.

Scene dreck? Most of my scenester/ "hip" friends hate my music.

"Plans" is DCFC/ Postal Service's worst album, but is still great. I wanted to balance it out instead of posting a lot of rap, a lot of rock or a lot indie.

Plus if I went higher on the list, you'd see a lot more good hip hop bands which grace most of my iPod, like Aceyalone, Atmosphere, Ohmega Watts etc.

I'm pretty proud I didn't put Sufan Stevens on that list.
